Charlie Cordova with Board MembersOn May 8th, Frank Borman student Seawii Mares was awarded the Cartwright Award of Excellence because she was honored at the Heroes of Education event on April 3rd. Our district has made a push to get more girls interested in STEM related fields and it is paying off. Mares, was chosen due to her interest and participation in the TEC is for Girls program. The program aims to increase the number of underrepresented female students choosing to go to college and pursue a TEC/STEM education.

We also honored a dedicated father who showed up to Palm Lane where his child goes to school and gave our autistic students a free haircut. Fox 10 was there to capture Charlie Cordova cutting our students' hair.  Charlie son is autistic and he understand how sensitive autistic children can be when receiving haircuts. He has also cut hair at Justine Spitalny School and we are so proud to have such charitable parents.
