The Department of Teaching and Learning is committed to improving academic achievement for all students by ensuring a rigorous and relevant curriculum. We support teachers and administrators in their work with students by offering high quality professional development courses throughout the year. We also support teacher leaders at each campus by offering monthly professional development in First Best Instruction.

Textbook Adoption Committee

In order to align with new AZ ELA (English Language Arts) Standards, Cartwright Elementary School District #83 intends to adopt a core reading program for English Language Arts this school year for implementation next school year for grades K-3. Below are the dates and times the Textbook Adoption Committee will be meeting.

January 12, 2018 8:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Cartwright School District Training Center Vendor presentations - listen to vendor presentation and rate programs with rubrics
January 23, 2018 4:00–6:00 p.m. Cartwright School District Training Center Discuss pilot results, completed rubrics, and other district data to determine the 2 programs that will be on display for teacher voting
May 4, 2018 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Cartwright School District Training Center Orientation PD from vendor of adopted curriculum, review revised GVC documents
